Consider Durham, NC as a Place to Live

"...consider Durham. It’s NC’s most ethnically-diverse city. It’s unique in that it was once a very blue-collar industrial town, but has transformed into a modern city based on medical and technology economies. (This is home to the famous Research Triangle Park.) It’s also known to have the best fine dining in the state."

Taste of Carolina Gourmet Food Tours Durham was Great

"I did the Durham walking food tour last year with my husband, mother and her boyfriend. We actually wanted to do the Raleigh tour, but it was full so we opted for the Durham tour instead. I'm so glad that we did. My mother and her boyfriend were from out of town and they wanted to get a feel for the area and this tour was great. Food and Service Good at Elmo's Diner

We ate lunch here [Elmo's Diner] - actually my husband ate breakfast (his favorite meal at any time of the day). We had limited time to eat and were happy to find that this place had a parking lot and promised quick service. The food was very good, moderately priced, and there was a wide variety of items to choose from. We were in and out in 30 minutes and felt we had made a good choice for a quick and delicious lunch."

Visitor Impressed with King's Daughters Inn

"My husband and I arrived in Durham for his surgery at Duke a day early so we would have some time to decompress and sight-see before the big event. I had booked a room at KDI expecting to stay one night and then move to a less-expensive hotel directly across the street from the hospital. After checking out our room and the hotel location, and learning that they offer a special medical rate, I canceled our other reservation and stayed all 3 nights at KDI. Our room was luxurious and spacious, and nicely decorated with a comfortable sitting area. It had a large flat screen TV that also served as a computer monitor. And the bath was spa-like. The place was spotless. It was comfortable and quiet. The inn is across the street from the Duke campus and a very short walk from the new Bull City Connector bus - a free bus running from downtown Durham to the Duke Clinic every 15 - 20 minutes with many stops along the way. The innkeepers are gracious and helpful. The inn has 17 rooms and has the feel of a B&B but also has services you'd expect in a larger hotel."

“Have you tried the [tamales] at La Vaquita here in Durham? My wife and I have eaten tamales in a number of cities in Mexico and in the Southwest (and we have even made them in cooking classes we've taken). The ones at La Vaquita are absolutely the best we've ever had."

“Consistently good food [at Nantucket Grill]. Consistently good service. Wonderful outdoor dining in warm weather. Kid-friendly. And beware free-slice-of-cake night: the serving size of these baked-on-site treats is better defined as a "slab."

Durham by Durham Citizen

“I moved to Durham last November with my wife and two little girls. Durham has exceeded our expectations. It’s family friendly, culturally diverse, international (thanks to the universities and Research Triangle Park), committed to smart growth, and it’s unique. Durham is unmistakably Durham, unlike so many towns that seem like AnyCity, USA. We’re proud to call Durham home.”

Dos Perros - by TripAdvisor

“We went to dinner with three other local couples to check out the newest in downtown Durham and all came away very happy with the experience. Great food, great atmosphere and overall enjoyable. Nice bar scene as you walk-in. We sat downstairs which would also be a great location for a private function. The menu was more what I would say to be "latin american" than traditional "mexican". Very unique to Durham. Also excellent martinis and guacamole that will bring you back often. Two thumbs up!”

“I was having lunch at Parker & Otis last week, sitting outside and admiring the wood and metal and the surrounding area. Brightleaf, the American Tobacco District, DPAC, DBAP, DAP are all awesome areas. I grew up in Durham and wow has it changed. It may be the most progressive and diverse city in NC. I am in awe of what has transpired over the last few years and we should be proud of what we have. Raleigh doesn't come close.”
