BikeCoffee: More Portland than Portland

"In Durham, someone in a Mexican wrestling mask delivered me coffee by bike at 10 PM. Thanks @bikecoffeedrm. More Portland than Portland!"

  1. Eewww...

How about "that's pretty neat," or "that's crazy." I know there were a lot of [white] people who saw the show at the Carolina and secretly wished Carrie would have said Durham is the North Carolina city most like Portland. Uhm, no. First, that's Asheville and second, Durham is not and never will be all that white. For people who want to come to Durham because of the cheaper housing but want something milquetoast, then let me redirect you to the Wake county side of Briar Creek or Carrboro.

    1. Wow Thom, this post makes you seem like quite the racist. It's really too bad that you felt so compelled to redirect people away from Durham based on racism. I think you missed the joke, that this one specific incident was even more "Portlandish" than how they comically portray Portland on the show. Eewww? Really? Ya know, some people actually like and strive for cultural exchange. It's also strange to me that your post went to race to begin with, because her post had nothing to do with race whatsoever. Maybe instead of redirecting other white people to go live somewhere where there are no black people, you should deal with your racism head on and move to Durham. Durham is very much like Portland, at least worth a comparison to Portland in a "little sister city" sort of way. Durham has the gritty city side that Asheville does not. Asheville is like a small section of Portland where all the hippies live.
